University Accredited Exercise Physiologist and Exercise Scientist
I can help you to get moving by assessing your injury and physical health, interpreting the findings and prescribing a personalised exercise program.
I use exercise rehabilitation as part of:
Physiotherapists and exercise physiologists play an integral role in your recovery process and will often work together with you to get the best possible outcome!
Physiotherapists are often most involved in acute stages of injury (but not always) and are fantastic at diagnosing issues. They have the ability to utilise hands on treatment like massage, joint manipulation and acupuncture for early stage pain relief. They often also provide early stage rehab exercise to help mobilise problem areas and build a foundation of strength.
Exercise physiologists usually work with patients with chronic health conditions and pain. We utilise exercise as our main tool and specialise in exercise prescription and load management. When it comes to musculoskeletal rehabilitation, exercise physiologists are generally involved in later stage rehab (6-8 weeks plus, post injury). We are also well trained in creating sustainable long term lifestyle change in patients and assist with building practical and effective habits around exercise and fitness. I want to help you today, but I want it to last a lifetime.
If your treatment concerns Medicare, Veterans Affairs or WorkCover, then yes. Otherwise you can pay privately or utilise private health insurance.
There is a HICAPS eftpos machine available at the premises or you can pay after an at home visit via direct debit.
Your first appointment takes between 45-60 minutes, but follow up appointments are between 30 and 45 minutes.
Bring your referral form (called a D904) from your doctor to your appointment. For an initial treatment cycle, the referral could alternatively come from a:
Under DVA treatment cycle arrangements, a referral to an allied health provider will last up to 12 sessions or one year, whichever ends first.
Once a treatment cycle has ended, the client needs a new referral from their GP before I can provide further treatment. The client can have as many treatment cycles as their GP determines are clinically necessary.
The treatment cycle does not apply to exercise physiology treatment for clients who hold a Veteran Gold Card embossed with TPI (Totally and Permanently Incapacitated).
If your doctor has assessed you for a Chronic Disease Management Team Care Plan which requires my services, you are eligible for a rebate from Medicare. There is a small gap fee on sessions.
Bring your referral from your doctor to your appointment including your Chronic Disease Management (CDM) Team Care plan.
Our treatments can be claimed through 98% of private health funds. Contact your fund to find out what you’re covered for and how much.
Invoices will be provided after each session to your your plan manager (plan-managed clients). Self managed participants will pay after the session and you will be provided with a receipt which you can submit to the NDIA to be reimbursed.
If you are unsure about how to access or want more information on Exercise Physiology and NDIS funding, have a chat to your support coordinator or your local area coordinator.
I have the most experience and have gotten great results with:
I'd love to work with anyone that wants to improve!
This depends on your Home Care Package (HCP) level. Generally, Levels 3, and 4 cover a wider range of services, including therapy and personal care. Exercise Physiology often falls under these categories. If you are unsure, then speak to your home care package manager for more information.
Short answer, yes. If you are located within 10 minutes of the our clinic then home visits are very doable. Travel time is factored into the cost of the service.
If you give me 24hrs notice, I can give your appointment to someone else. With 24 hours notice, I don’t charge for missed appointments – but if you don’t let me know (the repeat offenders anyway), there is a cancellation fee.
Bring anything you think may be relevant – referrals, x-rays, doctors’ reports etc. Please bring your payment card and your private health insurance card. If your treatment concerns Veterans Affairs, Medicare or Work Cover then you must bring the relevant paperwork including a referral from your doctor. Also please bring a water bottle and workout gear.
